Matcha is a variety of green tea.
Unlike other green teas, when you drink matcha, you consume the leaves. For this reason matcha contains a higher concentration of phytonutrients and vitamins.
There are 2 types of matcha- koicha and usucha, translating as "thick" and "thin" tea. Usucha is derived from the leaves of tea plants that are less than 30 years old. Koicha comes from the first harvest of plants that are a minimum of 30 years old.
As a green tea, matcha contains powerful phenols, EGCG and other antioxidants that provide health-promoting benefits.
Antioxidant Score (ORAC)=1,253
