Add butter to a medium safe saute pan over medium high heat.
Add the garlic and shallot, and cook, stirring, for 2 minutes.
Add the mushrooms and vinegar. Cook, stirring, 2 minutes more.
Pour in the wine and broth and bring to a simmer.
Simmer 8-10 minutes.
Stir in the thyme, salt and pepper.
Serve.
