Oxidants

library / Oxidants

Oxidants are substances that generate free radicals. The Free Radical Theory of Aging holds that organisms age because cells accumulate free radical damage with the passage of time.

Getting sufficient antioxidants in your diet, avoiding chemicals that cause cellular damage (like pesticides and preservatives), and giving your body the proper substances that help generate its own antioxidant defenses (like glutathione), are ways to reduce oxidative damage to cells.
