Glutathione

library / Glutathione

Glutathione is a cellular antioxidant and detoxifying system including reduced glutathione (GSH), glutathione reductase (GSR), glutathione S-transferase (GST), and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px).

Glutathione exerts a natural protective mechanism to prevent free radical damage. It has also been shown to enhance insulin secretion in people with impaired glucose tolerance.

Glutathione supplements are not readily absorbed by the body. Instead, you can boost your liver's production of glutathione by feeding it the right "ingredients"- including foods rich in glutathione like asparagus - the food noted to be highest in glutathione, as well as glutathione precursors (cysteine) with the best source being undenatured organic whey protein.
