Bring sausage and 1/4 inch water to a simmer in a small skillet over medium heat. Cook, uncovered, until water evaporates, 5 to 10 minutes. Continue to cook until the sausage is browned on all sides, about 4 minutes more.
Transfer to a cutting board. When cool enough to handle, cut into 1/2-inch pieces.
Combine the sausage, beans, broth, garlic, kale and marjoram in a medium saucepan. Cover and cook over medium heat for 10 minutes.
Season with salt and pepper.
