Preheat broiler to high heat.
Lay the peppers on a baking sheet and broil until charred on all sides.
Transfer to a bowl, cover with plastic wrap and let steam for 5 minutes.
Remove plastic, and peel the peppers. Set aside.
Heat the oil in a saucepan over medium high heat.
Add the onions and cook until soft.
Add the garlic and thyme and cook for 1 minute. Season with salt and pepper.
Add the peppers, coconut milk and broth and bring to a boil.
Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
Transfer to a blender and or use an immersion blender to blend until smooth.
Top with crabmeat and serve hot.
